Transom Painted and New Name
Story posted September 30,2002
Our name is finally proudly displayed on the transom. On the first week of September we took Tortuga back to Huckins to be hauled out for a bottom inspection and transom painting. We purchased her with a varnished transom and after several months of constant work on varnished surfaces we realized that painting the transom would give us a more durable finish. The overall look of a complete green (Jade green) hull also made for a better appearance. We were in the yards for a week with the painting taking about three days and the lettering just five hours. The sequence of photos below show Larry Dillon (Signs by Dillon 904-389-0804) hand-laying the outline for the lettering and the final results. I can't say enough about how excellent the craftsmanship is at Huckins and the royal treatment that Tortuga and I receive from their staff (thank you Deb!). (Go to the section "Our Boat" to see the before pictures of the transom.)
